The 3rd BRICS Research Institute Conference in Beijing, China.

The 3rd BRICS Research Institute Conference, held from September 25 to 27, 2024, in Beijing, China. The conference themed “Growth and sustainability of livelihoods in the BRICS countries: knowledge sharing in social justice, governance and multilateralism” represented a significant gathering of scholars and practitioners dedicated to exploring the multifaceted dimensions of BRICS nations—namely Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt and by invitation to this particular event, Indonesia.

Hosted by BRICS Research Institute at the Durban University of Technology which is led by Professor Fulufhelo Netswera and in collaboration with the BRICS Committee for International Cooperation in Culture and Art in China. The conference was supported by colleagues from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Campinas University, Brazil, the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, and Saint Petersburg State University, Russia. Additional universities included the University of Kota, India, the Pandit Deendayal Energy University- PDEU, India, Jilin University as well as Fudan University, both in China.

This conference aimed at nurturing young and emerging scholars, provided a platform for the synthesis of ideas and research findings that are pivotal to understanding the evolving dynamics within this coalition of emerging economies. The significance of this event was steeped not only in its academic contributions but also in its potential to influence policy-making and foster collaboration among current and future BRICS member states.

The conference content covered diverse research disciplines including Business Administration, Law and Governance in BRICS+, Sustainable Development in the Global South, including BRICS people-people exchange and cultural integration through tourism and air transportation.
